Inspired by Nature

A love affair from the start.

I’ve been an advocate for healthy skin care for as long as I can remember. Maybe it started when our mom let us play with mud in the backyard. There we were, four little girls, making as many mud pies as we had tins. The thick, cool slush must have felt good on my young skin under the California sun. And as a young adult, I whipped up DIY concoctions, using kitchen staples, for my face and lips long before it was a “thing.”

But it wasn’t until I got my hands on a book about handmade soap that something shifted. I was doing some research because my daughter casually announced that she wanted to make soap for her friends. She meant the melt-and-pour craft project, but I didn’t know that. I had never thought about making soap and this book was filled with pictures of beautiful bars with butters and oils that were not found in the store-bought soaps I had at home. Later that week, I finished the craft with my daughter so she could give away her gifts, but I never forgot about those pictures and those descriptions that compelled me to rethink how chemical-free soap could benefit me and my family. It could change my life. And it did.

That was twenty years ago. In my spare time, I researched base oils and their properties, experimented with cute molds and scents and made soaps on my kitchen counters. I even rendered my own fat, until my vegetarian daughter stepped in again and asked me to consider making only plant-based soaps. That was my plan all along, but those soaps with the animal fat, sure were worth my time to explore the many aspects of making soap at home. It was a fascinating and wild experience.

Today, I’m out of the kitchen and focused on a simple, but much bigger mission. I want YOU to have the experience of using back-to basic, cold-processed soaps that cleanse, nourish the skin and bring a little aromatherapy to your bath, without added chemicals. I believe our skin could use a worthy indulgence, whenever possible.

My soaps are not fancy with glitter, intricate designs or toys stuck inside. They won’t smell like watermelon, bubble gum or peach cobbler. But they will have organic and natural ingredients that are good for your skin with seductive scents that are extracted from Mother Nature. As the soap goes through the process of saponification and curing, the ingredients themselves will determine their end colors.

Each soap is boxed in a clamshell made from recycled paper and cardboard, without bleach, dyes or glue. We encourage you to recycle the box again as they are 100% recyclable.

As my journey continues, thank you for allowing me to share it with you.

Enjoy!
